Well this one’s fun.
About 3 weeks ago my 14-year-old learned that the reason people don’t wear crocks when working with hammers and nails is that they can end up impaling one’s foot. 😖
Suddenly the sirens sounded: “Rusty nail! In his foot! Quick! He needs a tetanus shot!!
It took a full day to calm down the panicking family and introduce them to the concept of research: What is tetanus? (Bacteria) How long does it take to incubate? (Up to 14 days) How is it treated? (Antibiotics) How long does the treatment usually take? (3 weeks) How serious can it be? (Fatal) How frequently does it reach that level of severity? (2 people last year in the entire US)
Ok. So… I have an antibiotic. A very effective one, in fact. So instead of making any doctor appointments, let’s just start treatment NOW. And then we can check back after the incubation period to see whether there is any sign in his system for residual tetanus. If so, we will adjust the treatment.
All agreed, and the orders were
1. Drink a 3-drop MMS1 dose daily at bedtime, and take additional doses if possible
2. Soak feet for 30 min in a 15-drop MMS1 foot bath
Tomorrow is the tetanus test to see whether we’ve succeeded. So technically this testimony is premature, except for the report I got from him tonight:
Hey, remember how I’ve been soaking my foot each night because I stepped on the nail? Well, I used to have a wart on my foot. And I looked the other day and noticed it’s missing. It’s just GONE!!!!
Haha!! Treated a wound; accidentally healed a wart!! 😂
